(a) To (c): ‘Sports’ being a State Subject, the primarily responsibility to develop sports lies with the respective State Governments. However, the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports supports the efforts of the State Government in this regard through their various Youth and Sports development schemes. Details of funds released under such schemes are as under:
(i) Details of grants released under National Service Scheme (NSS) for developing youth''s personality through community service during the last three years and current years are at Annexure-I.
(ii) Details of funds released to States under Khelo India Scheme are at Annexure-II.

(e): All schemes of the Department of Sports are gender neutral and applicable to all without any discrimination. However, to pay special emphasis for promotion of sports among the talented women sportspersons, Sports Authority of India (SAI) has established one National Centres of Excellence (NCOE) and three SAI Training Centre (STC) exclusively for women as given below:-
(i) NCOE Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh) having 58 women athletes (Athletics, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho & Volleyball)
(ii) STC Badal (Punjab) having 58 women athletes (Athletics, Hockey & Volleyball)
(iii) STC Medikeri (Karnataka) having 17 women athletes (Hockey)
(iv) STC Tellicherry (Kerala) having 102 women athletes (Athletics, Fencing, Gymnastics, Volleyball & Wrestling)
Further, out of the twelve verticals of Khelo India scheme, there is one vertical,which is exclusively dedicated to the women namely Sports for Women.
Under this vertical, emphasis has been laid on such sports disciplines where there is less participation of women.
