(a) whether the Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited(MTNL) has invited tender for Managed Leased Line Data Network (MLDN) as reported in the `Indian Express` dated March 2, 2001;
(b) if so, the reaction of the Government thereto;
(c) whether the Government have set up a Technical Evaluation Committee to examine various MLDN bids; and
(d) if so, the outcome thereof and action taken thereon?

(a) Yes, Sir. MTNL had invited a tender for Managed Leased Line Data Network (MLDN) vide Tender enquiry No. MTNL/20-80 (304)/2000-MM/MLDN dated 19.06.2000.
(b) & (c): Government has not set up any Technical Evaluation committee for Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL)`s Managed Leased Line Data Network (MLDN) tender.
(d) Does not arise.
