MINISTER OF THE STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE
(SHRI KANTI LAL BHURIA)
(a) to (c): At present per hectare consumption of chemical fertilizers in the country is
104.5 kg. which is much less than that of many developed countries. This level of consumption
do not have any ill effect on soil fertility and its productivity.
The Govt. is promoting Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) advocating soil test
based balanced and judicious use of chemical fertilizers in conjunction with organic and
biofertilizers for sustainable agriculture.
Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is also imparting training, organizing
workshops and laying field demonstrations on these aspects to educate farmers.
