Question : Cotton Yarn Export

(a) whether the Government has taken note of the continuous decline in cotton yarn exports;

(b) whether it is a fact that the cotton textiles export promotion council has urged the Government to extend 3 percent interest equalization for cotton yarn;

(c) whether it is also true that the cotton yarn exports are at past five year low; and

(d) if so, the reasons therefor?

(a): As per the data of Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics, export of cotton yarn has increased by 14% from US$ 3.4 billion in 2017-18 to US$ 3.9 billion in 2018-19.

(b): Cotton Textile Export Promotion Council, TEXPROCIL made a representation to Ministry of Finance to extend 3 percent interest equalization for cotton yarn

(c): No Sir. Cotton yarn exports valued at USD 3.89 billion in 2018-19 is the highest since 2015-16.

(d): Does not arise.
