Question : CONDITION OF NATIONAL HIGHWAYS



(a) whether the national highways are not in traffic worthy condition; and

(b) if so, the steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) National Highways are maintained in traffic worthy condition as per available resources.

(b) 4/6 laning of about 13500 km. lengths of National Highways has been taken up under National Highways Development Project (NHDP) and Port Connectivity Programme. Subject to availability of funds upkeep of balance length of National Highways has been taken up in the form of improvement of riding quality.
