(a) whether some states have sought loans from NABARD to meet expenditure for supply of drinking water to all villages;
(b) if os, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Union Government has provided any financial assistance to States in this regard; and
(d) if so, the details thereof, State-wise?

(a) to (d) Yes, Sir. So far, NABARD has sanctioned 4053 projects under Rural Infrastructure
Development Fund for rural drinking water supply in 13 states involving a loan assistance
aggregating to Rs.2596.52 crore. On completion these projects would benefit approximately 4.7
crore people. Besides, Union Government provides financial assistance for drinking water
from other ministries/departments under different schemes such as Accelerated Rural Water
Supply Programme, Swajaidhara etc.
