Question : CAT-III B FACILITIES



(a) whether the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has directed the airlines for training a substantial number of their pilots on CAT III B landing system;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the number of airports where advanced CAT III B instrument landing system has been installed/proposed to be installed; and

(d) the number of pilots trained for operating the flights in CAT III B conditions, so far?

MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) OF THE MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION (SHRI PRAFUL PATEL)

(a) and (b):- The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has directed the scheduled domestic airlines having CAT-III non-compliance aircraft in their fleet to file separate fog schedule for these aircraft for the period 10.12.2009 to 10.02.2010, failing which during foggy conditions the approved departure/arrival slots of these aircraft prior to 1000 hours shall be shifted beyond 1000 hours in coordination with the concerned airport operator.

(c):-CAT III B Instrument landing system has been installed at IGI Airport,New Delhi.There is no proposal for installation of CAT III B facility at any other airport in the country.

(d):-1278 pilots have been trained for operating the flights in CAT III B conditions as on 17.11.2009.
