Question : Atal Innovation Mission

(a) whether the Government in order to attract children towards technology early enough at the school level is setting up the Atal Innovation Mission, Atal Tinkering Labs and Atal Incubation Centres and Universities and other institutions; and

(b) if so, the number of beneficiaries, State-wise including in district Nashik as on date?

(a) Yes sir, the Government of India is encouraging schools to provide exposure of science and technology to students so that they can be exposed with futuristic technology platforms. Government has setup the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) at NITI Aayog with an objective to create scientific temper and cultivate the spirit of curiosity, creativity, imagination and innovation among young minds and inculcate skills such as design mind-set, computational thinking, adaptive learning, physical computing, rapid calculations, measurements etc.
Similarly, Atal Incubation Centres (AICs) and Established Incubation Centres (EICs) promoted by Atal Innovation Mission have conducted several Student Innovator Programs (SIPs) for top ATL students identified through various competitions. They provided unique mentorship and support to student teams towards developing a complete product package with business presentations. In addition, for children at the undergraduate level several Atal Incubation Centres and Established Incubation Centres have been opened by universities.
(b) A total of 4875 beneficiary schools have been given grant in aid by Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog for establishment of Atal Tinkering Labs from out of selected 14916 schools. The total number of schools in Nasik where Atal Tinkering Labs have been set up are 37. State wise number of beneficiary schools is attached at Annexure A.
Similarly, a total of 45 Atal Incubation Centres / Established Incubation Centres have been given grant-in-aid by Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog. State-wise number of Atal Incubation Centres / Established Incubation Centres is attached at Annexure B.
