Question : Rooftop Helipad in AIIMS

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government is contemplating to construct rooftop helipad in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), if so, the details thereof along with the aims and objectives thereto;

(b) whether the clearance and necessary permission to get the helipad operational from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have been taken and if so, the details thereof;

(c) the total expenditure involved and the time by which the rooftop helipad is likely to be constructed in AIIMS;

(d) whether some private hospitals in the country have such facility which is very costly and beyond the reach of common masses and if so, the details thereof; and

(e) whether this facility will be accessible to poor patients in terms of affordability?

(a) to (e): The rooftop helipad is a part of the Power Grid Vishram Sadan building which has been constructed under Corporate Social Responsibility funding provided by the Power Grid Corporation India Ltd. The total cost of the 10 storey building including the helipad is Rs.32.67 crore. Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted site approval for construction of roof top Helipad at AIIMS, New Delhi. DGCA has not granted operational authorization to any Roof top helipad for any private hospital till date.
