THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR EXTERNAL AFFAIRS (SHRI AJIT KUMAR PANJA)
(a)&(b) Government is aware that following its defeat at Kargil, Pakistan has stepped-up its state sponsorship of cross-border terrorism in the State of Jammu & Kashmir and elsewhere in India. Pakistan has been trying to bring various militant groups under one umbrella organization to be known as the Kashmir Liberation Army. This project has not taken off yet, due to the unwillingness of certain Tanzeems to join such a group.
(c) Government have, appropriately and effectively, brought to the attention of the international community facts regarding Pakistan`s state sponsorship of cross border terrorism and attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of the country. The international community now openly recognizes Pakistan`s role in the sponsorship of cross-border terrorism in India, and the impact this has on the security of the country and the region. This concern is reflected in statements by official spokesmen of several governments, and in the international media coverage on Pakistan.
