(a) whether there is any proposal to set up more manufacturing units for making orthopaedic
aids like wheel chair etc;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the steps taken to ensure that State-of-the-art orthopaedic aids and equipment made in the country?

(a) & (b) There is no proposal to establish new manufacturing units for making orthopaedic aids by the
Government.
(c) The Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), a Government of India undertaking
and having ISO 9001:2000 certification, is manufacturing orthopaedic aids & equipments conforming to the
BIS standards.
