Question : Activities under AMRUT Scheme

(a) whether protection, rejuvenation & restoration of lakes and other water bodies are covered under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme; and

(b) if so, the details thereof along with other activities covered under the scheme?

(a)& (b). Government of India launched Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) on 25 June, 2015 for providing basic services like water supply, sewerage etc. to households in 500 selected Mission cities in the country.

Rejuvenation of water bodies specifically for drinking water supply and recharging of ground waterisone of the activitiesunder the Water Supply component of the Mission. Some States/Union Territories (UTs) have taken up projects related to rejuvenation of water bodies under the Mission as per details in Annexure.

Other components of AMRUT scheme are Sewerage & Septage Management, Storm Water Drainage, non-motorized Urban Transport and development of Green spaces &Parks. Further, credit rating, capacity building and implementation of reforms in the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs)/ Mission cities are also undertaken under the Mission.
