(a): The number and details of Employees'' State Insurance Hospitals operating in Gujarat and Assam, at present, is given in the Annexure.
(b): The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has not received any such proposal from respective State Governments to set up new ESI hospitals in Assam, Bhavnagar and Botad (Gujarat), Kerala including Alappuzha. As per ESIC norms, an ESI hospital is proposed for setting up once the number of Insured Persons (IPs) in the area fulfills the prescribed norms.

(c): In absence of nearby ESI Hospitals, the health care facilities to ESI beneficiaries is provided through empanelled Government/private hospitals. Further, there also exist a provision through which beneficiaries may claim reimbursement of medical bills for services taken directly by them from Government/private Hospital.
(d): In view of reply to (b) no quantum of funds have been earmarked.
However, ESIC has earmarked an amount of Rs. 4,25,036.02 lakh towards ESI Scheme for the financial year 2019-20 for providing medical care by State Governments. Out of this, budgetary provisions for the financial year 2019-20 to the State of Assam, Gujarat and Kerala are as under:
