Question : Development of Science and Technology

(a) the schemes/projects for development of Science and Technology (S&T) undertaken in various States of the country including Uttar Pradesh during the last three years and the current year, Statewise;

(b) the State-wise details of funds allocated and released for these schemes/ projects;

(c) whether Non-Governmental Organisations/Voluntary Organisations are also engaged in the implementation of these schemes; and

(d) if so, the details of such organisations and the details of funds granted to them during the last three years and the current year, State-wise including in Uttar Pradesh?

(a) & (b): The Ministry of Science & Technology does not implement any centrally sponsored scheme and do not have any provision for making States/ UTs wise target, allocation and release under Science & Technology Schemes/ Projects. The Ministry, however, supports R&D projects to investigators and institutions related to development of Science & Technology including fundamental research through competitive grant mechanism in all the States including in the State of Uttar Pradesh. This includes support to the research and development labs and institutions, support to Scientists and Researchers for investigators centric research proposal, strengthening Science and Technology (S&T) infrastructure in Universities and Institutions of Higher Learning through Fund for Improvement of S&T Infrastructure in Universities and other Higher Educational Institutions (FIST), Promoting S&T Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Technology Business incubators, Technology Development and Demonstration, Empowering women and weaker sections of the society through science. In addition Ministry in coordination with the State Governments, Including the Government of Uttar Pradesh, implement some schemes to attract the young students to make career in Science, a programme on Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) was mounted under which more than one million Children have been benefited in the country. The Ministry is also implementing the schemes such as Technology Development and Demonstration Programme (TDDP), Access to Knowledge and Studies (A2K + Studies),Common Research and Technology Development Hubs , Promoting Innovations in Individuals Start-ups and MSME (PRISM), Biotechnology Research and Development, Industrial and Entrepreneurship Development.

(c) Ministry is not engaging any Non Governmental Organizations/ Voluntary Organizations in the implementation of above Science & Technology schemes of the country.
