Question : Misuse of Uniforms

(a) whether as per guidelines, civilians and shopkeepers are not allowed to wear or sell combat uniforms in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government is aware that shops are selling military fatigues, boots and berets freely in various parts of the country;

(d) if so, the action taken/being taken by the Government against the guilty shopkeepers; and

(e) the further steps taken/being taken by the Government to create awareness among the people in this regard?

(a) to (e): Wrongly wearing and sale of uniform of soldier, sailor or airman is punishable under section 140 IPC. Law enforcing authorities are supposed to take appropriate action against non-entitled persons wearing such outfits.
