(a) the number of heavy public sector and private sector industries in the country, particularly in Uttar Pradesh;
(b) whether the Government proposes to set up some new projects in the country during the coming years and if so, the details thereof, State and location-wise; and
(c) whether the Government has any proposal to accord priority to the industrially backward regions of the country, particularly Bundelkhand region of UP and if so, the details thereof?

(a): Industry is a State subject. Hence, no centralised data regarding heavy public sector and private sector industries operating in the country, including Uttar Pradesh, is maintained in Department of Heavy Industry (DHI). The role of DHI is confined to Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) under its administrative control. However, under DHI, CPSEs such as Scooters India Ltd., Triveni Structurals Ltd. and Bharat Pumps & Compressors Ltd. are based in Uttar Pradesh while several others have their regional offices/sub-regional offices in cities across Uttar Pradesh.

(c): Does not arise in view of para (a) above.
