Question : VULTURE BREEDING CONSERVATION CENTRES

(a) whether the Bombay Natural History Society plans to set up a Vulture Breeding and Conservation Centre;

(b) if so, the details worked out so far;

(c) whether the Government proposes to get vultures from other parts of the country for breeding; and

(d) if so, the details thereof as on date?

(a) & (b) Vulture Breeding and Conservation Centres have been established by the Governments of Haryana and West Bengal at Pinjore and Buxa respectively in collaboration with the Bombay Natural History Society.

(c) & (d) Yes, Sir. Permission has been given by Ministry of Environment and Forests to capture species of vultures from other range States of the country, namely Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Rajasthan and West Bengal for captive breeding and conservation purpose in these two Centres.
