Question : NORMS FOR DEVELOPMENT OF TOURIST SPOTS UNDER ECOLOGICAL TOWNSHIP PROJECT



(a) the norms stipulated by the Central Pollution Control Board to develop tourist spots of the country under Ecological Township Project; and

(b) the details of the religious places of the country including Maharashtra proposed to be included by the Government under the said project on the basis of these norms, State-wise?

( a ) The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB ) has undertaken a demonstration project on development of religious /tourist cities / towns as Ecocities with overall objective to improve environment through identified projects that mainly relating to sewerage, drainage, solid waste management, traffic and transportation, plantation and landscaping.

( b ) Twelve towns have been identified where the Ecocity Project would be implementated. In the first phase, the Ecocity Project has been taken up for the towns of Vrindavan, Puri, Ujjain, Tirupati, Kottayam and Thanjaour.
