Question : SUBSIDY TO HAJ PILGRIMS



(a) the total loss suffered by Air India on account of subsidy to the haj pilgrims during each of the last three years;

(b) the percentage of loss to Air India on this account out of total losses during the above period;

(c) whether the Government propose to reduce the subsidy; and

(d) if so, the details thereabout?

(a) and (b): The haj movement is undertaken by chartered aircraft and the cost per pilgrim for haj charter operation is established on `No-profit no-loss basis `. Therefore, no loss is suffered by the Air India on account of Haj operations during last three years.

(c) and (d): No such proposal is presently under consideration.
