MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT(SMT. D.PURANDESWARI)

(a) to (d): The Government of Kerala has requested to set up an off campus centre of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in northern Kerala, as part of the implementation of the report of the High Powered Committee constituted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (Fatmi Committee) as follow up on the recommendations of the Sachar Committee. While the State Government identified around 200 acres of land in Emad Taluk of Malappuram District for the purpose, the AMU has requested the State Government to identify a minimum of 250 acres of land and send a consent letter indicating details of the site. The setting up of the proposed off campus center would be subject to availability of resources and meeting the requisite procedural requirements, viz appraisal of the! proposal by the Expenditure Finance Committee, followed by the approval of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs and that of the President, as the Visitor of the University. The Government has accordingly requested the University to get site-specific Feasibility Report and Detailed Project Report etc. prepared.
