Question : Reopening of NTC Mills

(a) whether the textile mills running under the National Textile Corporation (NTC) have resumed operations after lockdown caused by COVID-19 pandemic;

(b) if so, the details of the mills which are operational now;

(c) the details of the mills which were operational before lockdown but are yet to open after the unlocking; and

(d) if so, the reasons for keeping the mills closed although the lockdown is over?

(a) & (b): Due to Covid-19 pandemic and nationwide lockdown imposed by the various State Governments, the production activities in all National Textile Corporation (NTC) Limited mill units were put on hold since 25.03.2020. After lifting up of the lockdown and as per availability of raw material, NTC restored operation of 14 mill units from January 2021 onwards. The second wave of COVID-19 pandemic again led to closure of all NTC mill operations in April, 2021. NTC has restored operations in 8 mills in July 2021. Details is at Annexure-I.

(c) & (d): Detail of NTC mills, operations of which are yet to be resumed due to working capital crunch is at Annexure-II.
