Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF WATER RESOURCES (SHRI ARJUN CHARAN SETHI)

(a) & (b) As per information available in the Ministry of Water Resources, there is no project by the name of Nawada in Bihar. However, Tilaiya Dhadar Project benefiting Nawada district has recently been accepted by the Advisory Committee, subject to certain conditions. The Upper Sakari Reservoir Project was accepted by the Advisory Committee in 1984, with certain observations. However, the State Government has submitted a modified report in 1998 which has been examined and comments have been sent for necessary compliance. Being a State subject, irrigation projects are planned, investigated, implemented and funded by the State Governments as per their own priorities. The commencement of work can, however, be undertaken after necessary statutory clearances are obtained by the State Government.
