Question : JOINT STRATEGY FOR SALE OF COFFEE



(a) whether three major coffee producing countries viz. India, Vietnam and Indonesia of Asia propose to formulate a joint strategy with the objective of augmenting sale of coffee in the international market;

(b) if so, the salient features of the proposal; and

(c) the time by which the joint strategy is likely to be implemented?

( a ) to ( c ) : No, Sir. However, Vietnam Coffee & Cocoa Association and Association of Indonesian Coffee Exporters, two private organisations, have suggested a meeting of three Asian coffee producers (India, Vietnam & Indonesia) to work out a coordination programme for common interests. As no such suggestion has come from the Governments of these countries, no action was considered necessary in the matter.
