Question : EXPENDITURE INCURRED AT AHMEDABAD AIRPORT



(a) the average annual income earned from the Ahmedabad Airport of Gujarat;

(b) the expenditure incurred for the development of Ahmedabad Airport by the Union Government;

(c) whether there is a dearth of some basic facilities keeping in view the rush of passengers at the said airport;

(d) if so, whether the Government propose to introduce a new scheme regarding lodging of passengers and providing clock room facilities at the Ahmedabad Airport; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

THE MINISTER OF CIVIL AVIATION (SHRI SHARAD YADAV)

(a) :- The average monthly income earned from Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel International Airport during 1999-2000 was Rs.121.57 lakhs.

(b) :- Airports Authority of India(AAI) has spent approx. Rs.13.66 crores during 2000-2001 (up to Nov. 2000) on development of the airport.

(c) :- All basic passenger amenities are available at Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel International Airport at Ahmedabad. A new Domestic Departure Terminal has been planned to cater to 600 passengers at a time at an estimated cost of Rs. 45.91 crores to meet the increased passenger traffic.

(d) & (e) :- Cloak room and lodging facilities in the form of rest room will be provided in the proposed Domestic Departure Building. The project is likely to be completed within 30 months after the commencement of work.
