Question : SETTING UP OF ADDITIONAL COURTS FOR SPEEDY DISPOSAL OF CASES



(a) whether the Government proposes to set up new additional courts in the country for speedy disposal of pending cases;

(b) if so, the details thereof, State-wise;

(c) the total funds required; and

(d) the time by which these courts are likely to be set up?

(a) to (d): The Central Government does not have any proposal to set up new additional courts in the country for speedy disposal of pending cases. Requests received from Union Territories for setting up of courts, whether to deal with pending cases or on account of any other factor like creation of a new district, are examined on merits. The State Governments, in consultation with its concerned High Court, decides all matters concerning operations and setting up of courts, in the respective States.
