Question : Delay-Cancellation of Flights

(a) whether delay and cancellation of flights has affected Air India adversely;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the number of Air India flights cancelled/ delayed and losses suffered thereby during the last three years and the current year; and

(c) the manner in which the Ministry/ Government proposes to deal with/ overcome this problem?

(a) & (b) A statement of OTP, Cancellation and Delays for the financial year 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 is attached as Annexure.

The loss/expenses incurred on Delayed/Cancelled Flights for the last three
years is given hereunder:
2012-13 : Rs 43.97 crores
2013-14 : Rs 63.64 crores
2014-15 : Rs 77.44 crores
2015-16 : Rs 30.19 crores(April to Nov. 2015)

(c) All possible efforts have been made to ensure On Time Performance (OTP) of AI flights. The OTP is being monitored at the highest level within Air India on daily basis. A video conference is anchored by Integrated Operation Control Centre (IOCC) everyday in which the representatives of operating departments from four regions participate to review the previous day''s operation and evolve process improvement wherever possible. Wherever required, issues are taken up with Airport operators, ground handling agencies etc .The Ministry also regularly monitors the OTP of AI.
