Question : Manufacture of Ayurvedic Drugs

Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY(AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) whether it is a fact that the manufacturing of Ayurvedic drugs is rising across the country in the recent years especially during the last one year;

(b) if so, the details thereof during the last three years, State/UT-wise;

(c) the details of workforce employed in the said establishments during the said period; and

(d) whether the Government has made adequate budgetary provisions for the said companies and if so, the details thereof indicating the funds allocated by the Government and utilized during the last three years, State/UT-wise?

(a) to (c): Exclusive provisions for grant of license to manufacture Ayurveda, Siddha & Unani and Homoeopathy drugs are prescribed in the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940 and Rules 1945, which are enforced by the State Licensing Authorities and their records are not maintained at the central level. The information received from the States/UTs is enclosed as Annexure 1.

(d): Ministry of AYUSH is implementing Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM) through States/UTs for the promotion of AYUSH system. Under NAM, Grant-in-aid is being provided to State / UT Governments for various activity including upgradation and setting up of State AYUSH Pharmacy. Status of grant-in—aid released during last three years to State Government AYUSH Pharmacies is enclosed as Annexure 2.
