Question : Modern Facilities for Sports

(a) whether sports facilities like national level trainer, appointment of coaches and other modern facilities are available in all the States/Districts of the country for providing training to youth to prepare them for various sports competitions including national/ international level competitions;
(b) if so, the details thereof, State/ UT-wise;
(c) whether the youth from Marathwada region of Maharashtra are getting all the facilities of national level for preparation of sports of national level and if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;
(d) whether the facilities of appointing high level coaches and other modern facilities are available in all the training centres of Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu; and
(e) if so, the details thereof and the funds spent for this purpose during the last three years, State/UT-wise?

(a) to (e) ‘Sports’ being a State subject, promotion and development of sports, including training facilities and training at State and District level, rests with the State / UT Governments. The Central Government supplement efforts of the State/UT Governments by providing assistance for identification of talented youth for sports, training of athletes and their participation in competitions besides bridging gaps in sports infrastructure. The number of training facilities run by this Ministry and trainees enrolled in these facilities is at Annexure- I. The training facilities are available for all talented youth across the country.

The training facilities run by this Ministry in Marathwada Region of Maharashtra and Union Territory of Daman and Diu is at Annexure –II. Presently, there is no training facility run by this Ministry in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
