Question : Gross State Domestic Product

(a) whether data of Gross State Domestic Product for new base year 2011-12 has been complied by Central Statistics Office (CSO);

(b) if so, the details thereof and data of State-wise growth rate for financial year 2015-16;

(c) whether the Growth rate of some States has been more than 10 per cent whereas there is decline in growth rate of Bihar in 2014-15 which topped the past; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b) The estimates of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) are compiled by the concerned State/ Union territory (UT) Directorates of Economics and Statistics (DESs) as per their own timelines and in accordance with the methodological guidelines of the Central Statistics Office (CSO). The GSDP estimates at current prices of preceding two years are discussed with CSO and consolidated estimates placed in the official website of Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. The State/UT-wise GSDP estimates at constant prices (base year 2011-12) and growth rates as received from the State/UT DESs are given in the statement placed at the Annexure.

(c) Yes Madam, for some States, the growth rate has been more than 10% for the year 2014-15. However, in respect of Bihar State, the growth rate did not decline in 2014 - 15.

(d) Does not arise, in view of (c) above.
