Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT
(SHRI RAM KRIPAL YADAV)

(a) to (d): Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) wage rates are currently indexed to state-wise Consumer Price Index for Agricultural Labourers (CPI-AL) and based on this index, the wage rates are revised in each financial year for all States/UTs. A Committee, which was set up by the Ministry of Rural Development, to review the revision of MGNREGA wages and Schedule of Rates, has recommended using Consumer Price Index-Rural (CPI-R) instead of CPI-AL. The proposal has been sent by the Department of Rural Development to the Ministry of Finance for consideration.
