Question : Paramedical Education

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has taken any further initiatives to promote quality through standardisation of paramedical education and to augment human resources in Allied Health Services and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether there is any special attention given to Maharashtra in setting up of medical colleges for conducting paramedical courses and enhancing their capacity; and

(c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a): Yes, Ministry has developed model curricula for seven Allied Health disciplines and the same is uploaded on the Ministry’s website.

(b) & (c): In a Centrally Sponsored Scheme namely “Setting up and strengthening of State Institutions of Allied Health Sciences in States and setting up of colleges of Allied Health Education”, an amount of Rs. 10.89 Crore has been released to two Govt. Medical Colleges in the State of Maharashtra namely :–

• BJ Medical College and Sasoon General Hospital, Pune, Maharashtra – Rs 4.95 crore

• Miraj Medical College and Sangli General Hospital, Miraj, Maharashtra - Rs 5.94 crore
