(a) to (c) The permission of the Central Govt. for establishment of new medical college and increase in seats in MBBS course is given initially for a period of one year subject to be renewed on annual basis on creation of facilities as per the norms of the Medical Council of India and recommendations of the Medical Council of India thereon. Permission has not so far been renewed for admission of fresh batch of students during the academic year 2002-03 in new medical college at Anantapur for want of Medical Council of India recommendations. In addition, permission for admission of students against the increased intake has also not been renewed in respect of four medical colleges at Tirupati, Kurnool, Warangal and Kakinada. In case of college at Kurnool and Warangal the compliance report on rectification of deficiencies pointed out in the inspection report of Medical Council of India has not been received from the college authorities whereas in case of colleges at Tirupati and Kakinada recommendations of the Medical Council of India are awaited. Renewal of permission in respect of these colleges will depend on availability of infrastructure facilities and recommendations of the Medical Council of India thereon.
