(a) & (b): Bharat Tap initiative has been launched by the associations of manufacturers of sanitary wares and fittings, in active coordination with Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation 2.0 (AMRUT 2.0) to save water. This initiative promotes low flow sanitary ware and sanitary fittings manufactured as per International Standard (IS): 17650 Part 1 (Sanitary Ware) and Part 2 (Sanitary Fittings). These IS standards provide star ratings namely 1 star, 2 star and 3 star. Higher number of stars denotes better water efficiency.

(c) & (d): Implementation and monitoring of water infrastructure and its efficiency is the primary responsibility of the State Governments and their agencies/ Local Bodies. Government of India encourages increased efficiency in usage of water through promoting reduction in non-revenue water through technological interventions for monitoring and tracking water consumption as a reform under AMRUT 2.0 and use of sanitary ware and sanitary fittings manufactured as per IS: 17650 Part 1 and Part 2 through advisories.
