(a) whether the Union Government have since examined the report of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions on violation of trade union rights in India;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the area where violation of trade union rights have been brought to the notice of the Government; and

(d) the remedial steps Government propose to take in this regard?

(a) to (d): The Report of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions has not yet been received. However, Government`s attention has been drawn to the news-item on the Report that appeared in the Hindu dated June 20, 2002. The Report, according to the news item, expressed concern about violation of trade union rights in India. Cases of violation of trade union rights whenever reported, are taken up with the State and Central enforcement machinery for investigation and redressal.
