Question : RUNNING OF MEENAKSHI EXPRESS



(a) whether the running of the Meenakshi Express between Poorna and Akola Railway station has been discontinued due to ongoing construction work on this route and if so, the details thereof ;

(b) whether the Railways propose to run the said train between Poorna to Akola via Parbhani-Aurangabad-Manmad;

(c) if so, the details thereof; and

(d) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) Yes, Madam. Meenakshi Express which used to run between Kacheguda and Ajmer via Purna-Akola-Ratlam has been cancelled owing to gauge conversion works.

(b) to (d) Restoration of erstwhile Kacheguda-Ajmer Meenakshi Express is not feasible at present, due to break of gauge on section en-route between Indore and Akola. However, at present, connections between Hyderabad and Ajmer are available in the form of 12719/ 12720 Ajmer-Hyderabad Express (bi-weekly) via Khandwa-Akola-Hingoli-Purna and 17019/ 17020 Ajmer-Hyderabad Express (weekly) via Khandwa-Manmad-Aurangabad-Parbhani.
