Question : EXPORT OF MINERALS



(a) the details of the availability andconsumption of various minerals presentlyin the country, mineral and State-wise;

(b) the details of the various mineralsexported and the foreign exchange earnedtherefrom during each of the last three yearsand the current year, State-wise; and

(c) the steps taken by the Governmentto protect and maintain balance of demandand supply of these minerals in thecountry?

(a): Details of the availability of mineral reserves / resources as on 01.4.2010 is given at Annexure I. As per available information, consumption of important minerals is given at AnnexureII.

(b) As per available information, the quantity and value of the minerals exported during the last three years and the current year is given atAnnexureIII.

(c):The mining sector has been liberalized since the year 1993 and supply of minerals is driven by market demand. Therefore, the Government does not administer to maintain balance of demand and supply of the minerals.
