(a) whether the Government has any proposal to set up Agriculture Mission in every State;
(b) if so, whether such State level Missions would be set up during 2007-08;
(c) if so, the main objectives of such Mission; and
(d) the steps taken in this regard?

(a)&(b): The Government has contemplated a Centrally Sponsored Scheme `National
Food Security Mission` (NFSM) to be launched in 2007-08 to enhance the production of rice,
wheat and pulses by 10 million tonnes, 8 million tonnes and 2 million tonnes respectively by the
end of XI Plan.
(c)&(d): The Mission aims at enhancing production of rice, wheat and pulses through a set
of measures such as area expansion, productivity enhancement, soil fertility improvement,
employment generation and enhancing farm level economy.
