Question : Closure of Railway Schools

(a) whether the Railways has any proposal to close down many railway schools from the coming academic year;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the reasons therefor;

(c) whether the Railways has taken any measures to ensure that the students studying in these schools are not inconvenienced and there is no break in their studies;

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and

(e) the steps being taken for rehabilitation of the teachers and other administrative staff working in these schools?

(a) & (b): Yes, Sir. In order to optimize resource utilization towards running the Railways schools, rationalisation of Railway schools has been planned.


(c) & (d): Yes, Sir. All possible efforts such as, shifting of students to nearby Railway schools are made to ensure that no discomfort is caused to the students or the families of the children studying in these Railway schools.
(e): Railways has laid down a policy for absorption and utilisation and redeployment of staff.
