Question : Basic Amenities at Ancient Temples and Monuments

(a) whether the Government proposes to provide basic amenities like drinking water, toilets, parking, approach roads etc, and guides to the tourists visiting the monuments, historical temples and world heritage sites in order to promote tourism;

(b) if so, the monuments-wise details thereof;

(c) whether the Government has taken/ proposes to take steps for beautification of and to provide the said facilities in tribal dominated areas in the country including Maharashtra, particularly the famous ancient cave and temple of Lingo Jango, deity of Tribes, located in Kachargad in Salekasa Taluka of Gondiya district, Markanda Devasthan in Chamorshi Taluka and Holy shrine of Lord Rama located in Ramdegi in Chimur Tehsil of Chandrapur district under the Parliamentary constituency of Gadchiroli-Chumur; and

(d) the State/UT-wise details thereof along with the requests received from the public representatives in this regard?

(a) & (b) Amenities like drinking water, toilets, parking, approach road, pathways and guides, etc are provided at World Heritage monuments, ticketed monuments and several other monuments which are under the protection of Archaeological Survey of India. Providing such amenities is a regular phenomenon. Summary statement of facilities is at Annexure-I.Apart from this, the monument wise details are available at:

(c )& (d) Conservation and maintenance of Centrally Protected Monuments in the country including those in tribal dominated areas is taken up every year as per the need and priority depending on resources and funds. Temple of Lingo Jango is not a protected monument. At temples in Markanda and Ramdegi Archaeological Survey of India has provisions for conservation and landscaping, during the current year. Request received from Public Representatives as VIP references are invariably addressed or passed on to the concerned for suitable redressal. A statement indicating facilities provided at centrally protected monuments, State/UT-wise is at Annexure-II.
