(a) whether the Government have since considered the recommendations of the National Plastics Waste Management Task Force; and

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a) & (b) The Government considered the recommendations of the National Plastics Wastes Management Task Force and notified the Recycled Plastics Manufacture and Usage Rules, 1999 on September 2, 1999 in The Gazette of India Extraordinary Part II Section 3Sub-section
(ii). These rules prohibit the use of carry bags or containers made of recycled plastics for storing, carrying, dispensing, or packaging of foodstuffs. Carry bags and containers made of virgin plastics shall be in natural shade or white. Others may use pigments and colourants as per BIS specifications. Carry bags made of plastics shall not be less than 20 microns thick . Also, re-cycling of plastics shall be undertaken strictly in accordance with the BIS specifications.
