Question : FUNDS FOR MANGALDOI BHUTIACHANG ROAD IN NE REGION



(a) whether out of Rs.5.99 crores approved cost of the Mangaldoi- Bhutiachang Road in Darrang District, Assam under the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources only Rs. 1.21 crores were released in 2002-03 and no funds were released in 2003-05;

(b) if so, the reasons therefor; and

(c) by when the funds are likely to be released?

(a): The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region(DoNER) had released Rs. 1.21 crore out of the estimated project cost of Rs. 5.99 crore to Border Roads Organisation (BRO) as per their requirement of funds during 2002-2003 for implementation of Mangaldoi-Bhutiachang Road in Assam.

(b) & (c): The improvement works between Km 43.30 to Km 52.00 of this road project were completed by BRO in December 2003 within Rs. 1.21 crore released by the Ministry of DONER. The balance amount of Rs. 4.78 crore for replacement of 6 S.P.T.bridges has not been requisitioned by BRO as these bridgeswere in good condition and replacement was not considered necessary.
