(a) whether the Government proposes to provide any assistance to the media
persons of small and medium newspapers including senior citizens;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) if not, the reasons therefor; and
(d) the steps taken/being taken by the Government for the welfare of media
persons of small and medium newspapers?

(a) to (d):There is no specific proposal for providing assistance to media persons of small and medium
newspapers. However, Journalists including those working in small and medium newspapers are given press
accreditation facilities and journalists accredited at Government of India Headquarters are being provided
various facilities, namely - Railway Travel Concession, benefits of Central Government Health Scheme,
Government accommodation from Press Pool, assistance from Journalists Welfare Fund. Also, custom duty
exemption is given to media persons for import of professional equipments as per existing rules.
