Question : Remuneration to Workers under SBM

(a) whether the remuneration/wages paid to the workers/labourers working under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA) or Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) is very less and at present only Rs. 85 per day are being paid and if so, the details thereof; and

(b) whether the Government has any proposal to increase the said remuneration/ wages if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (b) Sanitation is a State subject. Government of India provides technical and financial support to supplement their efforts. Under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) [SBM(G)], no specific wages have been prescribed for its functionaries in the States/UTs. The State Governments have to ensure proper wages to the workers/labourers, if any engaged by them.
