Question : WATER FACILITIES IN TOILETS



(a) the percentage and number of rural families deprived of water facility in toilets in the country including Bihar;

(b) the number of toilets with constant water facility constructed under SBM, and the funds allocated by the Union Government for this project; and

(c) the details of public private partnership for the construction of toilets in the country including Bihar during the last three years?

(a) State/UT-wise, %Households without Drinking Water facilities within premises as per Census 2011 is at Annexure-1.

(b) The State/UT-wise, number of individual household latrines constructed from 2nd October, 2014 to till date under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) is at Annexure-2. Under SBM(G), the incentive of the household toilet has been increased from Rs. 10000/- to Rs. 12000 to ensure that water facility is provided for the toilets.

(c) The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation has issued guidelines to facilitate the utilisation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds in rural sanitation activities. States can use these guidelines as a base to develop their own procedure to attract/receive and utilise CSR funds. Many Corporates have announced taking up works in rural sanitation, which they carry out in consultation with State, district and local governments. Details are available at the decentralised levels.
