(a) whether the Union Government has received any proposal from the Government of Odisha for upgradation of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, Burla to an Indian Institute of Engineering, Science and Technology (IIEST);
(b) if so, the details thereof and the present status of the proposal; and
(c) the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) to (c) : Yes Madam. Upgradation of certain Institutions to Indian Institute of Engineering, Science and Technology (IIEST) is based on the recommendations of Anandakrishnan Committee constituted to assess the potential and transformation to high level technological Institutions of national importance. As the name of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla (Odisha) is not in the list of Institutions recommended for upgradation to IIEST, therefore, the proposal received from the Government of Odisha for upgradation of VSSUT, Burla to IIEST is not under consideration of the Ministry.
