STATEMENT REFERRED IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (c) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. *371 TO BE ANSWERED ON 19.03.2020 ON “Funds to Andhra Pradesh under DRIP” RAISED BY SHRI Y.S. AVINASH REDDY and SHRI KANUMURU RAGHU RAMA KRISHANA RAJU, M.P.
(a) to (c) State of Andhra Pradesh is not part of DRIP (Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project), ongoing since 2012 and scheduled for closure in June, 2020 at a cost of 3466 crores. DRIP facilitates World Bank Loan to participating States for a major part of rehabilitation cost of their Dams. Remaining portion is borne by States from their budgetary provisions. World Bank Loan is to be repaid by States as per terms and conditions negotiated at the beginning. It also makes available technical and managerial support to them. For this, an external consultant is hired by Central Water Commission (CWC). DSO (Dam Safety Organisation), CWC functions as CPMU (Central Project Monitoring Unit) for DRIP. Government of Andhra Pradesh has shown willingness to be part of the proposed DRIP Phase –II & III scheme which is still under preparatory stage and formal launch of the same is yet to take place. For the proposed DRIP Phase II & III ,Govt. of Andhra Pradesh has submitted an estimate of Rs.776.5 Crores to rehabilitate 31 dams. List of dams proposed to be covered under DRIP II & III is enclosed as Annexure-I.
