Question : INCIDENT OF FIRE AT PATRATU THERMAL POWER STATION



(a) whether there was an incident of fire at Patratu Thermal Power Station of Jharkhand;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the loss caused as a result thereof?

(a) : Yes, Sir.

(b) : As reported by Jharkhand State Electricity Board, there was an incident of fire at Patratu TPS on 9.1.2002 which started at 17.40 hrs. in the cable gallery of unit control room of Units 1&2. The fire was controlled at about 20.00 hrs. and was completely quenched by 00.30 hrs. of 10.1.2002. The control room and cable gallery of Units 1&2 were completely burnt. One circuit breaker was damaged. The generator transformers No. 2&3 and station transformers have also been partially damaged due to flashing.

(c) : A loss of about Rs.50 crores has been estimated by the Jharkhand State Electricity Board.
