Question : Rail Network under Act East Policy

(a) whether the Government is considering to bring any proposal to increase rail network in Haryana and North Eastern States including Assam under ‘Act East’ policy;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government has received proposals from Assam Government for laying rail tracks in that State; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the follow up action taken in this regard?

(a) and (b) For increasing inter-network in Haryana, 10 railway projects including 7 new lines, 1 gauge conversion and 2 doublings covering total length of 1,015 km, costing 11409 crore falling fully/partly in the State of Haryana are in different stages of planning/approval/ execution.

In Assam & North Eastern Region, 20 projects, including 14 new lines and 6 doublings covering total length of 1,783 km, costing 68,401 crore falling fully/partly in the State of Assam & North Eastern Region are under different stages of planning/approval/ execution.

The details of all works in progress and new works including allotment of funds and expenditure on each project are made available in public domain on Indian Railways website i.e. www.indianrailways.gov.in> Ministry of Railways > Railway Board >About Indian Railways > Railway Board Directorates > Finance (Budget) >Railway wise Works Machinery & Rolling Stock Programme_Regular Budget 2019-20.

(c) and (d) Proposals /requests /representations from State Governments or various public representatives and other organizations for construction of railway projects are received at various levels like, Divisional Offices, Zonal Offices and in the Ministry from time to time. As receipt of such proposals is a continuous and dynamic process, compendium of such proposal is not maintained.

Nevertheless, the action has already been taken up on sanctioned projects.
