Question : Scientific Activities

(a) whether in order to encourage young scientists either during their studies or after the completion of the same, the Government is running any programme for their continued involvement in scientific activities;

(b) if not, the future scheme of the Government in this regard; and

(c) the time by which the Government is considering to implement this scheme?

(a) Yes, Madam. Government has been implementing a number of programmes to encourage young scientists during their studies and after the completion of the same. Some of the notable programmes of the Ministry targeted at young scientists include: Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE), Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY), National Postdoctoral Fellowship (N-PDF), Early Career Research Award (ECRA), Research Associateship, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Fellowship Schemes etc. These schemes provide a platform for young scientists to develop as independent researchers; and also ensure their continued involvement in scientific activities.

(b) & (c): Do not arise in view of (a) above.
