Question : ANALYSTS IN NEWS BULLETINS



(a) the number of news bulletins aired on Doordarshan daily;

(b) the time slot fixed therefor;

(c) whether an expert or analyst is invited in each of these bulletins;

(d) if so, the time slot fixed for them in the bulletins;

(e) the amount of honorarium paid to the above experts by the Doordarshan; and

(f) the norms laid down for the selection of such experts?

(a): Prasar Bharati have intimated that 25 News bulletins are being telecast daily from News Headquarters, Delhi. Two additional news bulletins are telecast on Sundays namely

i) News in Sanskrit.	ii) News for Hearing Impaired.

When Parliament is in session, in addition to the regular news bulletins, Parliament News is also telecast both in Hindi and English. 48 news bulletins in regional languages are telecast daily.

(b): The details of the time slots allotted to news bulletins are given in the Annexure.

(c): No, Sir. Experts are called in the following four news bulletins telecast from Delhi at
i)	4.00 p.m.	ii)	4.30 p.m.	iii)	8.00 p.m.	iv)	8.30 p.m.

(d): Depending on the news fall of the day, 5-10 minutes time is fixed/ allotted for the experts in the above referred bulletins.


(e): A fee of Rs. 2000/- per day is paid to the expert appearing in the National/ News Channel bulletins.


(f): The expertise of the experts and the requirement of the news stories on a particular day determine the choice/ selection of the experts.
